1 l gluten-free oat drink (or other vegetable drink/milk)
2 dl Gluten-free oatmeal butter from Virtasalmi Cereal Product
1tspsalt
a knob of butter for the pan and the bottom
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 150°C. Grease the casserole. Add the liquid, salt and semolina. Simmer in the oven for 2-3 hours. Stir a couple of times during cooking. The porridge will thicken a little when it cools down.
- Gluten-free baked porridge will still taste delicious the next day! Put the leftover porridge in an airtight container and refrigerate. Add a splash of oat drink or milk before microwaving and reheat. Don't use the highest power so that the porridge heats up evenly!
valio lactose free skimmed milk 1 l , 2 dl semolina, 1 tsp salt and 3h 15 min in the oven at 150 degrees, and that's not porridge, it's too loose. Failed porridge came with your instructions!
Hi Eija,
Sorry to hear that the porridge was not a success! Since we are talking about a big difference in baking time (2-3h), some ovens may take a little longer. You can also try raising the oven temperature to 180 degrees, for example, if you want to shorten the baking time. I hope this helps!
Hello,
I have made countless times with that recipe with lactose free milk and each time it has left a loose velvet. The baking time has been long and even longer. I end up adding oatmeal at the end each time. Or I replace 1dl oats with 1dl rice. I have cooked in an electric oven. So I wonder if there's some property of lactose-free milk that's affecting it. Or the electric oven.
Hi Laura,
We are also putting lactose-free milk on trial to better answer this question. We have generally used oat milk to make porridge, which makes the porridge as pictured. I would recommend trying gluten-free oat milk in this recipe until we have tried the recipe with lactose-free milk 🙂
I've done exactly that. Sometimes I sort of "forgot" to put the porridge in the oven! The last time I had porridge for about 3 hours, the oven was 150 when I put it in the oven and maybe about 100 degrees when I finally took it out.
And oh how good it is, my husband and I eat it almost standing up when the pan is out of the oven!
Really good. The bread oven is a different baking oven than the electric oven, though. Without a doubt, those oven-baked pies etc. turn out much better in a bread oven.
