Teff is a protein- and fibre-rich cereal crop

Dark teff contains more protein than most other cereals, around 10-12%, making it an excellent source of plant-based protein. It is also an excellent source of fibre, with teff containing up to 15% fibre. Teff is a good source of iron, which is important information for vegetarians and vegans, for example.

In addition, teff is rich in calcium and magnesium. Teff is rich in B vitamins such as thiamine, niacin and riboflavin, which are important for energy production and metabolism.

Teff flour is a versatile gluten-free baking and cooking ingredient, a substitute for wheat or rye flour in sweet and savoury baking. Try also teff porridge flakes, which give the best results after a long simmer.
