Preparation

  • Dissolve the fresh yeast in water.
  • Add the flour and salt to the bowl. Make a well in the middle and pour the water mixture into it.
  • Mix with a spoon to form a dough.
  • Cover the dish with cling film and let rise in a 30°C oven until the dough has doubled in size (about 40 minutes).
  • Heat the oil to 180 degrees in a tall saucepan.
  • Take a tablespoon of dough and slide the ball of dough with your finger into the boiling oil. Fry 3-4 balls of dough at a time for about 1.5 minutes. The pizza balls are ready when they are airy and have a nice brown surface. 
  • Use a slotted spoon to lift the pizza balls onto the paper towels.
  • Sprinkle with finger salt and serve as is.

Tip

  • You can also dip the pizza balls in pesto, garlic aioli or tomato sauce, for example.
