minutesThe gluten-free cheese horns are perfect as a savoury snack, for example at the coffee table. Make small tasting versions of the horns or larger horns for stuffing. You can also find the instructions on the back cover of Virtasalmen Viljatuotes' Gluten-free all-purpose flour mix. The dough makes about 16 pieces.
Ingredients
2 dl milk
30 g yeast
1 tbsp sugar
0,25 tsp salt
50 g butter
150 g grated cheese
3,5 dl Virtasalmen Viljatuote's gluten-free all-purpose flour mix
1 egg (for lubrication)
Preparation
- Soak the yeast in lukewarm milk.
- Add the sugar, salt and some of the flour.
- Mix well.
- Add the remaining flour, butter and grated cheese.
- Let the dough rise well.
- Knead the dough on the table and divide it into two parts.
- Roll the dough into round discs of about 30 cm.
- Divide the discs into 8 parts with a dough wheel.
- Roll up the triangles, starting from the widest end and fold the horns into shape.
- Let rise for a moment and brush the horns with egg.
- Sprinkle with grated cheese if you like.
- Bake at 225 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
- Gluten-free cheese curds are at their best when slightly cooled.
What size are those?
Hello!
You can easily control the size of the horns yourself. If you want bigger horns, roll out a larger sheet of dough and cut large triangles. For smaller horns, roll out a narrower sheet and make smaller triangles to wrap.
Can you make these horns with your gluten-free oat flour?
Hi Leena!
You can of course try to replace the light flour mix with our gluten-free oat flour. Just note that you will then have to add psyllium separately to the dough. Because oat flour can work differently from the white flour mix, we recommend adding a little bit at a time until the dough is the desired consistency.
